Introducing... Ian Cross - Regional Leader for South East Asia

In Ian Cross, we have a Regional Leader for South East Asia, who brings with him an encyclopaedic knowledge and understanding of the upstream industry.

An expert on global upstream activities, Ian is Managing Director of Moyes & Co., a boutique advisory company in the commercial space. Having spent a large part of his early career working as a geologist with Elf in London, he expanded his international knowledge, moving overseas with IEDS and then IHS, in Singapore and Houston respectively.

Reflecting his breadth and depth of regional knowledge, Ian has been the President of the South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society (SEAPEX) for a number of years, and has great belief in the power of membership organisations within this industry.

He tells us:

“Having become a member of SEAPEX several decades ago, and having benefited from being a part of that network, I am fully aware of the impact a membership organisation can have on the development of the upstream industry.

“I first became aware of Frontier via the Africa Energies Summit many years ago and have always understood the synergies between the SEAPEX and Frontier networks. Complementary to each other, they each help build the other’s reach to the benefit our members, whilst reinforcing each other’s credibility.

“When it comes to exploration and production, it’s critically important for us to meet, discuss and collaborate, and the very best way to do that is in person. The post-COVID enthusiasm for in-person events has not waned – and perhaps it is fuelled by the shift for so many towards working from home.

“Whilst online meetings are now a part of everyday working life, I believe it’s hard to beat the outcomes achieved when people get in the same room. And that’s what Frontier is all about; providing us with the opportunity to – in their own words – connect, collaborate and get deals done.

“Bearing that in mind, I am especially looking forward to meeting up with some of you at the Frontier Members’ Asia Pacific Reception, held in Kuala Lumpur next month.”
